On Tuesday, November 15 , the third and fourth concerts of the Nevsky Choral Assemblies Festival will begin the week.
The third part of the grandiose cycle, "Alexander Nevskiy and the military history of Russia," is dedicated to the most interesting period in the history of our country: the XVIII – early XX centuries. The literary and musical composition unfolds an epic musical canvas of the Patriotic War of 1812, the Crimean War, the Russian-Japanese War, and the Civil War. The Choir and Symphony Orchestra of the St. Petersburg State Academic Capella will perform the solemn overture "1812" by Tchaikovsky, fragments of the vocal and poetic symphony "Pushkin" by Petrov, "Oratorio Pathetique" and "Blizzard" by Sviridov, music by Tchaikovsky, Sarti, Lesueur, Kozlovsky. Conductor – People’s Artist of the USSR, Vladislav Chernushenko. The readers are Honored Artists of Russia, Alexey Yemelyanov and Semyon Sytnik.
Concert four: "Poems and songs of the war years." The choir and the St. Petersburg Capella Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the People’s Artist of the USSR Vladislav Chernushenko, will perform songs about the Great Patriotic War.
On Thursday, November 17 , the festival’s closing ceremony will take place. The grand finale of the choral forum, dedicated this year to the 800th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Nevsky, will be the fifth concert of the large-scale cycle "Alexander Nevsky and the military history of Russia". The concert will feature works by Tchaikovsky, Glinka, Sviridov, Gavrilin, A. Kalvarsky, and poems by Pushkin, Tyutchev, Esenin, Zhchuzhnikov, Rubtsov, Maykov, Chuprov and others. "Russia, Russia, keep yourself safe, keep yourself safe!" has become one of Capella’s most significant concert programs in recent years. Conductor and author of music and poetic composition – People’s Artist of the USSR Vladislav Chernushenko.
Last year, the Nevsky Choral Assemblies Festival celebrated its 40th anniversary. It was first held in 1981 on the initiative of the artistic director of the Chapel Vladislav Chernushenko, the Choral Society of Leningrad and the Leningrad Conservatory. The festival aims to revive Russian sacred music and preserve the national choral school and the art of singing.
